Faces of Reside: Finding friendship at Happy Hour

When Ram Pal moved to Brookland Robertson after the passing of his wife, he was looking for a fresh start.

Originally from Fiji and a talented chef, Ram relocated from the Sunshine Coast to one of the community’s new apartments in November 2025. Like many people making a significant life change, he admits he initially felt a little lost.

Everything changed when he attended Happy Hour.

It was there that Ram began forming friendships and becoming part of the vibrant community.

Today, he is a familiar and much-loved face around the village, generously sharing his passion for cooking by preparing food for social events.

Ram said he is very much enjoying the Brookland lifestyle.

“I was a bit lost when I left home because I’d been on the Sunshine Coast for 45 years,” he explained.

“But now I’ve settled in and have a lot of friends.

“I love to make little nibbles for Happy Hour and dessert for morning teas. My vanilla slice is very popular.”
